QC Technician - Food Production Facility

Overview

This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring of in-process production and finished goods, GMP and room sanitation compliance and validation of documents including maintaining logs and data records associated with various job functions.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive all Original Juan Specialty Foods' food safety initiatives to ensure food safety standard are being met resulting in the production of safe and high-quality food products;
  • Ensure the quality of all processes from raw materials to finished products through inspection, diagnosis, and record keeping;
  • Coach, train, and enforce OJSF process and procedure, sanitation, quality, and employee conduct standards;
  • Comply with OJSF standards for product quality, productivity, and performance;
  • Monitor and maintain overall sanitation compliance in the production area;
  • Monitor critical control points throughout production as defined in OJSF HACCP program;
  • Responsible for coaching and training staff on GMP’s including enforcement of proper hand washing procedures and the usage of gloves, hair nets, beard nets, and safety glasses;
  • Where in-coming inspection is required, test and inspect raw goods and finished products to ensure quality standards are being met. Perform visual and sensory testing as needed;
  • Initiate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), CAPAs and Non-conforming Material (NCM) where appropriate to drive corrective and preventative action to prevent recurrence of problems;
  • Provide all the necessary support for internal/external audits through verification that paperwork is being completed correctly;​
  • Follow established escalation timing and decision criteria to promptly resolve downtime issues and develop alternate plans to complete the batch;
  • Monitor product temperature in jar a minimum of every 20 minutes on each operating production line;

 

  • Understand and be able to use all necessary lab testing equipment including, but not limited to, viscometers, ph meters, etc. This includes setup, calibration, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting;
  • Understand and be able to perform analytical tests on ingredients and finished goods including, but not limited to, pH, salt, titratable acidity, water activity, etc.
  • Perform sanitation verifications, such as ATP swabbing, allergen swabbing, visual inspections, and environmental monitor swabbing as needed;
  • Responsible for outstanding customer service to all interior and exterior customers;
  • Acts in a stewardship capacity for the Company, works as a functional member of the team, has ability to self-direct and self-regulate work-day;
  • Other duties as assigned​

Placement Criteria

  • Minimum of a GED and one to three months in a similar role or in a related area, or suitable combination of education and relevant experience preferred;
  • One year of food and beverage manufacturing experience a plus;
  • Must have very effective written and verbal communication skills and a strong attention to detail;
