Account Manager, Business Development

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop new client accounts and expand existing client accounts to meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Efficiently move clients through the sales process from cold call, to close, and follow-through.
  • 30-40% travel to / in the assigned sales territory (East Coast or West Coast – TBD) to achieve a minimum of 15 face-to-face client meetings per month.
  • Prepare for and deliver formal presentations to perspective new clients, and discuss service updates and ongoing or upcoming studies / programs of work in detail with existing clients.
  • Develop a strong relationship with the Company’s operations staff, and promote positive relationships between the operations staff and the Company’s clients.
  • Work with the Company’s operations staff and internal business development staff to prepare and issue price and timeline quotations to clients, and track and follow-up on quotations issued.
  • Attend industry conferences / trade shows.
  • Update and maintain the sales and marketing contact database.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end sales reports; and present and discuss these reports with the Company’s senior management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or chemistry required.
  • This position requires a strong understanding of the CRO and laboratory testing service business.  Prior CRO, laboratory, or industry (pharma., biotech, animal health, or chemical industry) experience required.
  • Previous sales experience required.
  • Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, and a strong team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills required.
  • High level of proficiency with PC programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must be customer service focused and have a professional attitude
