Spicing Technician-Warehouse

Overview

This position is responsible for daily preparation of raw ingredients and spices needed for scheduled production.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Weigh dry ingredients and spices according to recipes;
  • Retrieve boxes or bags from storage bin using FEFO (First Expired, First Out);
  • Label bucket contents, recipe, batch number, number of buckets, date, initials, Allergen or Non-Allergen, and lot number;
  • Maintain ingredient and spice code records and usages; Ensure all ingredients are marked either allergen or non-allergen.
  • Ensure scales are tested and calibrated each day at the beginning of shift.
  • Follow all GMP’s and ensure all PPE are being worn at all times while in the spicing room.
  • Pull samples when requested;
  • Prepare ingredients for batches, sample and test product integrity to meet specifications;
  • Rotate stock and report any ingredient or spice that is getting low to manager/supervisor;
  • Conduct monthly audits within department to ensure compliance.
  • Perform sanitation at the end of shift to ensure food safety requirements are being met. Sign off on EOD checklist with manager/supervisor daily.
  • Maintain Forklift certification and exercise good safety practices while operating equipment;
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and quality guidelines;
  • Responsible for outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers;
  • Acts in a stewardship capacity for the Company, works as a functional member of the team, has ability to self-direct and self-regulate work-day;

Placement Criteria

  • Minimum of a GED and one to three months in a similar role or in a related area, or suitable combination of education and relevant experience preferred;
  • Extensive knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the kitchen environment, specifically, food preparation knowledge, and good math skills;
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and organize diverse material and ability to perform effectively without supervision and within established time limits and ongoing deadlines;
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally, and provide exceptional service, both internally and externally at all times.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and drive or ride in a motor vehicle.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  Must have the ability to travel, sometimes with short notice.
